Meet the Teachers
Cecilia Sanchez - Director
I was born in Mexico City and grew up as a bilingual child. I am a mother of 3 bilingual children and have been living in The Woodlands since 2005. I have a B.A. in Bilingual Education and a Masters Degree from Columbia University in Early Childhood Education. I am also a certified Montessori Guide. I worked for 15 years as an English Teacher at the American School Foundation and the ETON School in Mexico City before moving to the USA.
Gloria Eppinette - English Teacher Transition
I was born in Mexico and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've always enjoyed teaching and I have taught every age from preschool through adults. I received my BA of Psychology from DePaul University and a M.ED in Reading and Language Arts at Sam Houston State University. I am certified in Bilingual, Gifted and Early Childhood through 4th Grade Education. My professional development includes training with Fred Jones, Handwriting Without Tears and Vivian Paley's Story Dictation and Dramatization. . I am married and have five children. I'm very fond of teaching little ones and embarking them on their path to reading, writing, independent thinking and lifelong learning. One of my greatest rewards is to see children internalize instruction and both utilize and synthesize the information they've been given. My heart's desire is that my service to your children will inspire them to exceed expectations in all that they do!
Norma Velasco - English Teacher 4 Year Olds
I was born in Mexico and because of my family's heritage was raised bilingual and bicultural. I have degrees in Pedagogy and Preschool Education and a Masters in Education. I've had the opportunity of teaching children from 6 months to 10 years old for over 15 years but mostly enjoy working with the preschool age. I an certified as an American Sign Language instructor for babies, knowledge which I apply to all age groups as a tool for enhancing their leanring experience. I've been married for 15 years and have 2 children. My family and I have lived in The Woodlands for 5 years and I am very excited to be a part of the Woodlands Tree House team.
Paloma Llanes - Spanish Teacher 4 Year Olds
I was born in Mexico City. I attended the National Center for Montessori Education in San Diego, CA. where I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education. I worked at The American Montessori School in Mexico city for 4 years. Due to my husband' s job, I have lived all over the continent and had my three children in different countries. Fifteen years ago I decided to move to The Woodlands where I've been working as a lead teacher for the 4 years old class.
Jodi Boland - English Teacher 3 Year Olds
I am from Grand Forks, North Dakota originally, and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. I went to the University of Lincoln for elementary education. I have been married for 22 years, and have three boys, all of them in college. I have lived in The Woodlands for 11 years and I am happy to join the team and work with your children.
Susanne Fenske - Lead Teacher 2 Year Olds
I was born and raised in Germany where I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education. Before moving to the US, I worked for four years as a preschool teacher in a Red Cross facility. Due to my husband's job, we moved to the US in 2001 and seven years ago we moved to The Woodlands. Since then I have been working as a preschool teacher. I am happy to be a part of the team at Woodlands Tree House and I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year with your children.
Patti Miller - Office Manager
I have a degree in Business Law but have been in the education field for 20 years as a kindergarten teacher, university registrar, state testing facilitator and grade level assistant. I am married to a Marine and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Liz P. Mitre - Spanish Teacher 3 Year Olds
I was born in Mexico where I lived until I moved to The Woodlands nine years ago. I have a degree in Economics. I started working as a teacher 12 years ago when I opened an after school program teaching English as a second language. I am very excited to be a part of the team at Woodlands Tree House Preschool and looking forward to educating your child.
Seny Lozano - Lead Teacher 2 Year Olds
I was born in Brownsville, raised in Houston, and thanks to my family langauge heritage I command both English and Spanish. I reaised my 3 children bilingual in Monterrey, Mexico, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. I worked as a bilingual teacher for 18 years at Colegio San Patricio in Monterrey, Mexico. My family and I have lived in The Woodlands area for many years. My call in life is teaching, and I am so happy to be part of the Woodlands Tree House Preschool children's lives.
Julie Blount - English Teacher 4 Year Olds
I am originally from England but Texas is now my home. I live in the Woodlands with my husband and two children. I have previously worked for many years as Lead Teacher in two preschools in England. I have a Preschool Diploma and also hold many certificates in related fields. Most importantly, I really enjoy working with preschool children. I am pleased to be joining the staff of the Woodlands Tree House Preschool and very much look forward to working with and getting to know both the children and their families.
Nicole Gimenez - Lead Teacher 2 Year Olds
I was born in Mexico City. My mother is american so I grew up 100% bilingual. I have a Law Degree but I have been teaching for over 15 years. I have taught mostly preschool children. In Mexico, I worked at the Greengates British International and the Innoved Learning Center where I also worked on the creation of an afterschool English Program for young children. I am married, mother of three daughters and live here in The Woodlands. My desire is to provide your children with a strong educational foundaton and develop happy and confident children who love learning!
Isela Yilmaz - Gardening Teacher
I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I have a degree in agricultural engineering and have taught science and math for over 20 years. I have two boys and love to teach them about nature and where their food comes from. I am excited about the opportunity to introduce your children to nature, gardening and nutrition.
Maria Castro - Spanish Teacher 4 Year Olds
I was born in northwestern Mexico. I came to the United States in 2001 to study my masters at Harvard University. My goal is to foster a fun learning environment for young children. I have been a preschool teacher for the past 10 years. I am married and a mother of 4 children. I enjoy learning about early childhood, creativity and character education. I recently moved to The Woodlands due to my husband's job.
